I had the privilege of joining the Springdale Green Project Tour hosted by SMPS Austin. This tour offered a fascinating look into a future mixed-use space that promises to be a hub of innovation and sustainability. Witnessing the integration of sustainable amenities and landscaping choices, such as trees being installed via cranes, provided invaluable insights into the landscape architecture and design processes shaping our city’s future.

August 8, 2023 – Last night, I attended a professional networking event with fellow marketers from my field. The theme was Western Chic attire, and let’s just say the Texas heat didn’t quite forgive my choice of jeans! Despite that, I had a fantastic time connecting with a diverse group of professionals and expanding my network.

I recently had the opportunity to embark on another exciting work trip with Design Workshop, this time to our Houston Studio along side members from the Austin Studio. It was a fantastic experience filled with project discussions, site visits, and connecting with colleagues face-to-face.
Day 1 at Design Workshop Houston Studio
I kicked off my trip to Houston with a full day of productive meetings and discussions about our ongoing projects. It was great to collaborate with my colleagues in person, and the energy in the studio was palpable. Despite the Texas heat, the day was filled with insights from a local site tour of Midtown Park followed by a cross-studio outing at The Rustic.

Exploring Urban Parks with the Houston Team
I recently had an exciting experience that I’d love to share with you. On January 11, 2023, I spent the day at our Houston design studio, where I had the opportunity to meet the team and participate in my first site walk.
Houston Design Studio Visit
My day started with a warm welcome from the Houston team. It was great to finally put faces to names and get to know the talented individuals I’ll be collaborating with on various projects.
Site Walk to Urban Parks
The highlight of the day was going on a site walk to two nearby urban parks, Midtown Park and Bagby Street Park. Seeing the firm’s projects come to life was incredibly inspiring. It’s one thing to see designs on paper, but witnessing the physical spaces and how they interact with the community brings a whole new level of appreciation for the work we do.

Business in the Front, Axes in the Back
I had the pleasure of attending my first professional networking event with my coworkers. It was a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and industry professionals. After the event, I shifted gears and headed for some axe throwing practice ahead of the playoffs. Balancing business and fun is what makes working at Design Workshop so enjoyable!
